Fundamental

Mixed fundamentals

RE/MAX shows positive cash flow but faces declining revenue and high leverage, affecting its financial stability.

Asset-light franchise model with positive free cash flow, but revenue continues to drift lower and recent quarters swung back to losses. SEC filings highlight housing-cycle sensitivity, dependence on franchise network health, and ongoing antitrust litigation exposure. Valuation looks reasonable on EV/EBITDA (~12x) and free-cash-flow yield (~10%), but heavy leverage (net debt/EBITDA ~6.9x) and a low Altman Z-Score (~0.72) keep the setup uncertainty-driven while the Real Brokerage transaction approaches closing.

Sentiment

fair
Sentiment3
Weak sentiment

Media coverage is negative, and no clear bullish catalysts are present, impacting sentiment adversely.

Dominant driver is the announced combination with The Real Brokerage — securityholder-approved 2026-08-14 and DOJ-cleared 2026-07-15 with closing mechanics under way — which in-window items scored net-positive (announced confidence); sentiment delta is indeterminate (sparse 2-item baseline) with modestly positive absolute sentiment and no usable retail signal. Moderate red-flag cap applied for conflicting signals (bullish merger-approval momentum vs bearish standalone Q2 loss/revenue-miss coverage).

Technical

fair
Technical3
Strong trend

RMAX exhibits a strong bullish trend with price above key averages, though momentum indicators suggest overextension.

Mixed read scores 3: the intermediate uptrend is fully intact (close 12.36 above SMA20 11.49, SMA50 10.77, SMA200 8.47, EMA21 12.02, WMA21 12.30 with ADX 49.15), but the most recent session was a -8.4% reversal on ~2.57M shares (roughly 6x the recent norm) that closed below the fast momentum stack (EMA9/WMA9/DEMA/TEMA) and below daily VWAP 12.66. RSI reset from 82 to 55.6 and Williams %R from -0.9 to -43.9 (both neutral), while the MACD histogram is fading (0.39 to 0.17) though still positive. The 08-24 flush to 11.275 was rejected intraday and the close reclaimed the EMA21/SMA20 zone, so the pullback-to-support thesis is intact but unproven - score capped at 3.
